Diamonds Update

I've just added another video to the videos section, it's a development of the diamonds stuff and is now rendered in processing using sunflow (if you're interested).

Little Monsters

Just a quick preview of a character I made for an interesting project a while back. It was going to involve mobile phones and GPS and monsters but is currently on hold so I thought I'd post this little guy. This is an initial sketch (actually quite developed as it's not that different from the worked up version) next to the final design. Hopefully the final character will be animated should the project come to fruition.

Nice Surprise

I got home a few days ago to find a hand written envelope had been delivered. Inside was a picture of me: It turns out Emily Robertson who works for ycnonline had been doing portraits taken from polaroids they'd been taking of anyone who'd visited the offices. I popped in for a chat about 2 years ago so it was a nice surprise. Thanks Emily, people should do stuff like this more often, try here for inspiration.

Happy Accident

My computer crashed yesterday and corrupted the flash file I was saving for a client. When I opened it it looked like this: And I like it. I'm hoping my computer crashes more often.

Diamonds

I've just uploaded a new video to the videos section. It's something I'm working on for a music video that'll be shot through tanks of water. It's sound reactive so it's a good idea to have the volume up :-) It's put together in processing which is a fantastic bit of software that allows you to really easily program visual stuff, especially sound reactive visuals. Lots more to come...

New Site

I've been very bad in the last 11 months. I haven't been updating my website. And, like a goldfish, what's the point of having it if you're not going to look after it and appreciate it. So to make up for my neglect I've added loads of new stuff and completely redesigned the site. One of the main problems I had with the old site was that no one could use it. It looked nice but the navigation was a little too 'original'. This one should be a lot easier to get around - if a little less flashy. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to email me if you've got any comments or anything is broken.

Helping Harris

My friend/ex-collegue/extra-talented-copywrighter Ben Harris asked me write a guest post for his blog while he was away. I wrote something about Total Recall, and hungarians. His blog is well worth subscribing to - and he's got more guest posters on the way as well.

The Faces Game

When I was at college I collaborated with Russell Hancock on a game aimed at raising awareness of Asperger's Syndrome. It's a Autism Spectrum Disorder that affects peoples abitiliy to interact with other people and function normally in society. We built a game that communicated the difficulty they had in reading facial expressions by splitting faces up into parts and asking the user to guess the emotion. Well it seems to have been effective as we've just been asked by the National Autism Society if they can use it as a training tool. Great news and it's brilliant that something we put together at college should go on to have a positive effect.

Features

Just a little ego bosting post about the fact that I got featured on Pixelsurgeon and Digitalthread (who said some very nice things). Very good of them both. Update: Wow things move fast online - Pixel Surgeon is now apparently dead. I think I may be jinxing these people.

YCN Interview

YCN asked if they could do a feature on me, which was very flattering as they don't seem to feature too many people. They also asked me for a quick interview as well. Unfortunately they've since reorganised their site and got rid of all of their interviews and features - which seems a bit of a pity (especially from my point of view :-) ). I may post the interview here if I can find it.
